The technology firm Rohde & Schwarz has been hired by airport operator Fraport to install 100 new security scanners at Frankfurt Airport. Both current security checkpoint lanes and upcoming new checkpoints will make use of the equipment. Over the course of three years, the scanners will be delivered.

The exceptional performance of Rohde & Schwarz’s R&S QPS201 scanner model led Fraport to select the company. The scanner benefits both passengers and employees by combining the best detection capabilities with quick and easy processes.

The R&S QPS201 scanner are known to minimize false alarm rates while meeting all regulatory criteria for detecting forbidden objects by utilizing cutting-edge millimeter-wave technology and AI-based algorithms.

The contract is being given to Fraport, which was taken over from the German Federal Police in 2023 and is in charge of the setup, administration, and operation of the aviation security checkpoints at Frankfurt Airport. Purchasing security equipment is another task covered by this contract.

Since 2015, Rohde & Schwarz has provided services to the global aviation sector. The US Transport Security Administration (TSA), the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and numerous other national organizations have approved the scanners.
