The iXX-Series of next-generation app-enabled infrared cameras, which Flir announced, are expected to revolutionise inspection tasks in a variety of applications, including building inspection and asset condition monitoring.
The iXX, which is based on Flir’s innovative ACE platform, enables scalable, user-friendly, and connected condition monitoring by fusing the strength of applications with a high-performance thermography inspection tool.
Notably, Flir radiometric photos are instantly connected to an asset hierarchy structure through direct interaction with the Flir Assetlink browser-based software, which expedites workflows and provides crucial information.
Plugging the Skills Gap
There is a lack of qualified thermographers, according to about 60% of maintenance teams. The new Flir iXX-Series’ user-friendly, app-guided processes help address this problem by enabling maintenance personnel of all skill levels to conduct safe and effective inspections.
Everything required to get started is included with the FLIR iXX, including an onboarding software to guarantee smooth adoption.
As a result, less experienced users who want to conduct expert-level inspections and precisely evaluate asset status will have a shorter learning curve.
Better Asset Health Insight
According to conventional processes, reporting can take up to 50% of a technician’s time. With connected processes, however, this percentage falls to zero, freeing users to concentrate on inspections rather than paperwork.
With the purpose of streamlining processes, enhancing asset health, and cutting down on reporting time, the iXX is pre-installed with Flir’s new Assetlink browser-based software, which enables users to schedule inspections, link thermal pictures to asset data, and generate inspection reports.
Additionally, dashboard data visualization streamlines communication and enhances operator comprehension of condition monitoring programs, while trend visualization offers insight into asset condition that is not achievable with a single snapshot.
Direct cloud integration takes place via Wi-Fi or LTE (certain models only) for immediate uploading, organization, and sharing of data, as well as seamless reporting and analysis. Operatives can send and receive messages, emails, and even video calls directly from the device to stay connected with their team.
Importantly, Flir is accredited to ISO 27001, the internationally recognized standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), with the iXX supporting device management app deployment to ensure the secure handling of data behind a firewall.
Industry-Wide Beneficiaries
The cameras are especially well-suited to electrical and mechanical inspections in manufacturing, industrial, commercial, data center, and utility environments, allowing for early defect detection and reduced downtime, even though Flir intended the iXX-Series for a variety of applications.
The Flir iXX with Assetlink can also be used with enterprise-level condition monitoring applications that have asset hierarchy, cloud-based data management, and team-wide collaboration.
Building diagnostics and facility maintenance, such as moisture detection, HVAC performance checks, and energy loss evaluations, are other target applications.
Leadership Comments
“Most people don’t buy smartphones for the hardware, but to take advantage of capability-enhancing apps,” explains Rob Milner, Director Business Development. “Using its ACE ecosystem, our new iXX becomes a portable infrared camera that hosts Flir and third-party apps to solve end-user pain points. Customers gain from simplified and faster workflows, support for inexperienced operatives, and the ability to solve documentation, communication, and decision pains. With the iXX, it’s even possible to create private apps that meet user-specific requirements and goals.”
