The NXP Trimension NCJ29D6 from NXP is a low-energy, fully integrated UWB transceiver integrated circuit (IC) intended for radar and secure ranging applications in automotive settings.

In addition to providing radar-based applications like Child Presence Detection (CPD) and kick-sensing for simple trunk entry, it provides Digital Key functionality for smooth, hands-free car access. By combining radar and range capabilities into one chip, the Trimension NCJ29D6 lowers overall costs and maximizes system value. 

For use with NXP Trimension NCJ29D6, embedUR systems optimized a lightweight and effective UWB Gesture and Motion Recognition Model, enabling real-time gesture recognition at a small model size of only 215 KB.

Enhancing Experiences with UWB AI

This UWB-powered AI model allows for intuitive, touch-free vehicle interactions, and enables new affordable opportunities all running on the Edge, such as: 

  • Touch-Free Trunk Opening – Open the trunk with a wave of a hand or foot.
  • Parking Assistance – Start/stop automated parking maneuvers using gestures.

In addition to the automobile industry, this technology can be modified for use in consumer electronics, smart home applications, and industrial automation, allowing touchless user interactions in a variety of sectors.
