Capgemini Acquires PLM Major Piterion for Cloud Edge

Capgemini just signed a deal to snap up Piterion, a top independent player in product lifecycle management (PLM) and manufacturing operations management (MOM). Piterion’s knack for linking up critical manufacturing systems and handling super-complex PLM setups will seriously level up Capgemini’s game in delivering spot-on, industry-specific solutions.

Piterion’s strengths in PLM and MOM will speed up customers’ shifts from old-school on-premise setups to slick cloud-native systems, while Capgemini’s AI analytics and generative AI tools bring extra speed and smarts.

Together, it is said to assist clients to cut-down time-to-market, cut engineering and manufacturing costs, and react faster to whatever comes their way. The deal should wrap up in the next few months, pending the usual regulatory green lights and closing conditions.

Founded back in 2004 and based in Stuttgart, Germany, Piterion has outposts in Italy, Tunisia, and India.

Its 200+ engineers who brings along mechanical, electronic, and software expertise to serve big-name clients in automotive (both consumer and commercial), aerospace & defense, life sciences, and high-tech, areas where Capgemini already has a strong footprint.

Piterion is known for building and running complex engineering environments to streamline manufacturing, boost efficiency, traceability, and reliability.

They specialize in industrial digitalization through PLM and tying together manufacturing execution, MOM, and ERP systems. Plus, they harness cloud tech to turn ideas into reality, baking AI into homegrown tools like data migration platforms, 3D visualization, and deployment frameworks.
