Auto Shanghai 2025 – Marelli Platform Approach to Streamline Product Development

At Auto Shanghai 2025, Marelli will showcase its technology, which is built on a strategic platform strategy that expedites hardware development and facilitates speed-to-market. The LeanEnergy battery management system and the LeanSuspension solution, two new products created using this paradigm, will be introduced by the company during the event. A brand-new ProDisplay technology application will also be showcased.Marelli LeanEnergy BMS, LeanSuspension SDV Auto Shanghai the volt post

These solutions will be exclusively displayed in the “Acceleration Lane” section of Marelli’s exhibit at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), which is situated in Hall 1.2H, Stand 1BF009.

A tiered platform approach, enabling speed-to-market for carmakers

Marelli’s platform-based products allow for feature customization by carmakers while utilizing a highly pre-developed (up to 70%) technology foundation. Automakers benefit from this strategy in terms of innovation and development speed. Three distinct platforms—Lean, Pro, and Elite—have been developed to provide innovative and scalable solutions that are especially tailored to satisfy the demands of diverse target markets and purchasers.

Lean platform solutions, which are designed to provide more accessible and ecologically conscious automobile solutions without sacrificing performance, have few components and are “fit-for-purpose,” sustainable, economical, and ready for launch.Marelli LeanEnergy BMS, LeanSuspension SDV Auto Shanghai the volt post 1

Products created using the Lean methodology demonstrate noteworthy advancements in design simplification, weight reduction, and increased technological efficiency, among other areas. These technologies are made to meet the needs of entry-level cars, base trims, and brands.

With an emphasis on scalability, the Pro platform includes versions of innovative items that are made to be reasonably priced without sacrificing functionality or quality. These solutions are intended to meet the changing needs of different vehicle segments as well as electric vehicles.

The Elite platform, which includes industry-first, upscale, and unique technologies targeted at premium and luxury categories, is a prime example of the highest level of innovation.

With the introduction of two technologies in the propulsion and chassis areas, Auto Shanghai will place a particular emphasis on the Lean platform.

New LeanEnergy Battery Management System

The centralized architecture of the LeanEnergy battery management system connects every cell to a single board.

This setup is especially well-suited for modestly sized battery packs seen in MHEV, PHEV, and small BEVs since it provides an efficient way to handle packs with up to 108 cells. To guarantee efficiency and safety, the platform has both high voltage and low voltage circuitry on the same board, separated by an isolation barrier.

New LeanSuspension Technology

LeanSuspension is a high-performing yet reasonably priced invention that is the next step up from Marelli’s Smart Damping Control (SDC) semi-active shock absorbers. This technology matches the performance levels of a dual-valve smart damping solution in terms of damping force, offering optimal performance with a semi-active damping system that uses a single electronic valve.

In comparison to conventional systems, this innovative approach can continually control the compression and rebound phases, leading to faster reaction times. Reduced complexity, weight, and cost are the main advantages, especially when contrasted with dual smart damping methods.

Marelli’s dedication to developing suspension technology is demonstrated by the LeanSuspension solution, which helps automakers improve safety, comfort, and agility.

New Application for ProDisplay: Hidden Integration Behind the Door Panel

Marelli will present a ProDisplay version that uses hidden display technology behind a door panel for the first time. This produces a sleek, minimalist look by enabling the display to stay hidden until it is enabled.

This invention improves driver interaction through its user-friendly functionality by fusing state-of-the-art technology with elegant interior design.  We continue to push the limits of in-car displays by positioning the display in an unusual way, creating new standards for sophistication and style.

With its large central infotainment and passenger panels, the Large Size Display, another ProDisplay application on display at Marelli’s stand, revolutionizes in-car entertainment.  Its vivid images and smooth connectivity, which are designed for clarity and interactivity, enthrall passengers and create an immersive, captivating experience.Marelli LeanEnergy BMS, LeanSuspension SDV Auto Shanghai the volt post 3

“Fast Forward. Forward Fast.” Concept

As previously stated, the concept “Fast Forward” will define Marelli’s involvement at Auto Shanghai 2025. “Forward Fast,” and the booth will provide a well planned tour of four different areas, each of which will illustrate how the business helps clients go to market quickly. Marelli’s agile approach to creation through Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) will be the main emphasis of the first space, known as the “Momentum Lab.”

The “Velocity Zone” will thereafter be devoted to Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) enablement tools, demonstrating how Marelli provides adaptable and reasonably priced assistance for scalable architectures.

Marelli will showcase their tiered hardware development platform approach in the “Acceleration Lane.” Last but not least, the “Instant Impact” section will showcase technologies that are prepared for instant implementation.
