At Bangalore’s The Kingdom College, the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has introduced a brand-new program called “Nayi Raah” (One Step Forward). With funding from the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), this ground-breaking initiative seeks to equip 250 impoverished people with the knowledge and abilities needed to succeed in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) industry. Because of growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation options and technical improvements, the EV market in India is expected to grow significantly. Seeing this chance, ASDC created “Nayi Raah” to meet the industry’s increasing demand for knowledgeable EV technicians.

The course will provide participants thorough instruction in EV upkeep, repair, and service, giving them the technical know-how and practical experience they need to succeed in this fast-paced industry.

“Nayi Raah represents a critical step towards building a skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s transition to electric mobility,” said FR Singhvi, President of ASDC. “By empowering individuals through specialized training, we not only bridge the skills gap but also create pathways to meaningful employment in the EV industry. This initiative underscores ASDC’s commitment to driving inclusive growth and fostering sustainability within the automotive sector.”

ASDC, a leader in automotive skill development, works to improve adolescent employability by offering training programs that are in line with industry standards. To make sure that its programs satisfy the changing needs of the industry, ASDC works closely with government agencies, training partners, and automakers. It places a strong emphasis on practical skills and certifications that are pertinent to the sector.

The backing of SIDBI emphasizes how crucial public-private collaborations are to advancing skill-enhancement programs and socioeconomic growth. Through this partnership, ASDC is able to provide participants cutting-edge training facilities and strong curricular frameworks in addition to funding the training.

The “Nayi Raah” program’s participants will go through demanding training modules that encompass battery management systems, safety procedures, diagnostic methods, and the basics of electric vehicle technology.

In order to ensure comprehensive skill development and preparedness for the workplace, industrial internships and on-the-job training opportunities will be combined with practical training sessions. All trainees will receive further training at TATA bus depots and work at the eight depots located around Bangalore, giving them access to chances for employment in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure of the city.

“At Tata Motors, we believe in empowering the future workforce with the right skills to navigate the evolving landscape of electric mobility,” said Mr. Srinivas Dhanankar, GM Head of Tenders and Purchase at Tata Motors. “We are proud to support the ‘Nayi Raah’ initiative, which aligns with our commitment to sustainability and community development. Training at our bus depots will offer participants invaluable hands-on experience, preparing them for successful careers in the EV sector.”

Shri Sandeep Varma, Chief Executive Officer of CGTMSE and Vertical Head of the Programmes for Development and Impact Vertical Initiatives of SIDBI, shared his thoughts on this initiative: “At SIDBI, we believe in the transformative power of skill development. ‘Nayi Raah’ exemplifies our commitment to fostering inclusive growth by providing underprivileged individuals with the skills they need to thrive in the evolving EV sector. This initiative is a testament to the impact of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable development and creating meaningful employment opportunities.”ASDC, SIDBI “Nayi Raah” Initiative for EV Technicians (EVST) the volt post 1

“The future of mobility lies in electric vehicles, and skilled technicians are essential to support this transformation,” added FR Singhvi. “Through ‘Nayi Raah’, we aim to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to the EV ecosystem, promoting sustainable practices and enhancing the industry’s competitiveness globally.”
