Anritsu Corporation reports that the Anritsu Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A has been chosen by SK Telecom (SKT), the biggest mobile operator in South Korea, and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), a university that leads in cutting-edge research, to verify the technologies used to realize mobile communication that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and antenna expansion technologies.
The necessity to meet the increasing demand for innovation in 5G-Advanced mobile communication systems, as outlined in 3GPP Release 18 and thereafter, is what is driving this development.
With this advancement, real-time AI-based optimization has been accomplished, which aids in resolving the interference issue that arises when a smartphone’s antenna count is increased from the standard four to the current maximum of eight. Although the smartphone under test remained the same size as a traditional device and operated within the same frequency bandwidth, this demonstration, which used the MT8000A as a base station simulator for mobile communications, revealed a notable boost in the data transmission speed.
In addition to supporting a variety of tests, such as RF measurements, protocol tests, and application tests for 5G mobile network technologies, the MT8000A complies with the 3GPP test standards. Because of its modular design, the hardware may be readily reconfigured to meet test requirements, including carrier aggregation (8CA) and higher-order MIMO (4×4 MIMO).
