Henkel India is significantly enhancing its presence in the country’s electronics sector with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Henkel Application Engineering Center in Chennai and the development of a dedicated adhesive materials manufacturing facility in Kurkumbh.
These strategic initiatives aim to foster innovation, streamline supply chains, and support the burgeoning electronics industry in India.
Henkel Application Engineering Center in Chennai
The newly unveiled 17,000-square-foot Application Engineering Center in Chennai is equipped with five specialized laboratories. These labs are designed to advance adhesive solutions and thermal management materials, crucial for the development of consumer electronics such as smartphones and wearables.
By accelerating product development cycles, the Henkel Application Engineering Center aims to reduce time-to-market for regional customers, thereby enhancing competitiveness in the fast-paced electronics market.
This facility is an integral part of Henkel’s global innovation network, which includes centers in Germany, the United States, China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
The Chennai Henkel Application Engineering Center will facilitate collaborative innovation, leveraging global expertise to address local market needs and contribute to the advancement of India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities.
Manufacturing Facility in Kurkumbh
In addition to the engineering center, Henkel is expanding its manufacturing footprint with a new facility at its Kurkumbh site near Pune, Maharashtra.
This plant is dedicated to producing adhesive materials tailored for the electronics industry and is designed as a smart factory, incorporating Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and sustainability.
The Kurkumbh site, operational since 2020, has been serving the growing demand for high-performance solutions in adhesives, sealants, and surface treatment products across various industries.
Henkel Supporting Localizing Production
The integration of advanced manufacturing technologies at this facility underscores Henkel’s commitment to supporting the “Make in India” initiative by localizing production, reducing dependency on imports, and providing customized solutions to meet the specific needs of Indian electronics manufacturers.
