Vedanta Aluminium Aligns With 70+ Startups To Spur Aluminium Industry

Vedanta Aluminium highlights its successful collaborations with more than 70 startups addressing important business issues in the aluminium industry on National Startup Day, reinforcing its dedication to innovation.Vedanta Aluminium partners Startups on National Startup Day THE VOLT POST

By bringing in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, the internet of things (IoT), and smart safety solutions, these collaborations have led to the implementation of more than 100 projects under the Vedanta Spark initiative to spur innovation with startups. They have also redefined manufacturing standards and strengthened Vedanta Aluminium’s commitment to advancing sustainability and technology in the sector.

These collaborations seek to improve operational effectiveness, streamline production procedures, and generate substantial cost savings by utilizing cutting-edge technology and solutions.

The partnerships cover a wide range of topics, such as environmental sustainability, cost reduction, and volume management. Furthermore, they are crucial in encouraging sustainable practices throughout the sector, coinciding with Vedanta Aluminium’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability goals, of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

One well-known startup among these joint endeavors is Infinite Uptime, which employs AI-driven analytics to provide predictive maintenance for industrial gear. They have installed more than a thousand sensors on 350 pieces of equipment, which has resulted in an impressive 2,000-hour reduction in unscheduled breakdown time.

This has increased output hours and helped lower unforeseen expenses. This demonstrates their capacity to use cutting-edge technologies to improve operational efficiency.

Glovision Techno Services is another noteworthy startup that focuses on Internet of Things solutions, such as asset management and GPS-based vehicle tracking.

Glovision successfully solved issues like elevated Turnaround Time (TAT) for coal trucks and safety concerns by putting in place real-time tracking and automated notifications. Over the course of two years, this led to considerable savings of over $5 million, demonstrating their proficiency in providing technology solutions that had an impact.

Looking ahead, Vedanta Aluminium is aggressively pursuing new cooperation with startups in areas such as Smart Pot Solutions and Metal Recovery from Red Mud – both essential interventions for growing the aluminium sector.

The Smart Pot Solutions project, which would be the first of its type in an aluminium smelter in the world, is a pioneering venture that aims to redefine industry norms. By turning waste into a useful resource, the Metal Recovery from Red Mud project, which aims to recover valuable metals from industrial waste, supports Vedanta Aluminium’s sustainability goals.

Vedanta Aluminium has implemented ‘Innovation Cafés’ in its business units to encourage an innovative culture and empower staff members as intrapreneurs.

These vibrant areas serve as breeding grounds for passion projects, uniting staff members and business associates to work together to tackle a range of problems and use in-house knowledge to develop creative answers.

In addition, the business actively promotes a flourishing network of micro- and rural entrepreneurs in the areas where it operates, such as through Project Sakhi, which assists female entrepreneurs.
