Easily integrated with any STM32 microcontroller (MCU) or microprocessor (MPU), the first of these modules, the ST67W611M1, has a Qualcomm® QCC743 multiprotocol connectivity system-on-a-chip (SoC) pre-loaded with Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.3 certified, and Thread combo.
In order to streamline the development of next-generation wireless solutions for consumer and industrial Internet of things applications, STMicroelectronics unveiled the first product of its strategic partnership with Qualcomm Technologies. The partnership intends to provide IoT modules initially by utilizing Qualcomm Technologies’ industry-leading wireless connection solutions and ST’s robust STM32 ecosystem.
For future-proof connectivity, the module will support the Matter protocol over Wi-Fi, enabling the STM32 portfolio to be easily accessed by the Matter ecosystem. The module also has a 40MHz crystal and 4Mbyte Flash for code and data storage to help with system integration. Additionally, there is a micro RF (uFL) connector for an external antenna or an integrated PCB antenna.
With hardware cryptographic accelerators and services like secure boot and secure debug, advanced hardware security is integrated, achieving PSA Certified Level 1 protection.
The module requires no RF design knowledge from the user to develop a functional solution because it is self-contained and pre-certified in accordance with mandatory criteria. It is ready to be installed on the board and allows for straightforward, inexpensive PCB designs with as few as two layers. It is well integrated in a 32-lead LGA package.
The ST67W611M1 makes use of the STM32 ecosystem, which includes more than 4,000 commercial part numbers, robust STM32Cube software and tools, and upgrades that accelerate the development of edge AI.
The newly released STM32N6 MCUs, which come with ST’s Neural-ART Accelerator, and the ST Edge AI Suite, which offers an AI Model Zoo and STM32Cube, are examples of AI advancements.AI and optimization technologies from NanoEdge AI.
Any STM32 microcontroller or STM32 microprocessor, which provide a wide range of configurable options for performance, cost, and power, can be easily and quickly integrated with the modules.
The available MCUs range from low-cost, low-power devices with the Arm Cortex-M0+ core to high-performance devices with Cortex-M4 and Cortex-A7 in the STM32MP1/2 MPUs.
