ST IO-Link Actuator Board Delivers Turnkey Reference Design

For industrial beacons and home appliance alarms, ST has unveiled an IO-Link reference design that comes ready to use as a fully assembled board with application software and a protocol stack.ST IO-Link Reference Design EVLIOL4LSV1 Board IPS4260L

The EVLIOL4LSV1 board uses the IPS4260L intelligent low-side power switch to drive the indication lights and ST’s L6364Q dual-channel IO-Link transceiver to manage communications.

Signaling systems like funnel material alerts for quantity-remaining or urgency-level awareness, smart tower lights for factory automation, and other system warnings can be directly connected to the board. Along with having a 5-pin SWD connector for programming and a 4-pin M12 connector for an IO-LINK master, it also offers a quick method of testing the IPS4260L and L6364Q ICs.

The ST proprietary IO-Link demo stack and application software are hosted on an STM32G071CB microcontroller, which also manages system control and diagnostics and communicates with the low-side switch and transceiver.

Fully secured, the L6364Q transceiver supports common IO-Link communication speeds, such as 230.4 kbit/s COM3 and 38.4 kbit/s COM2. The transceiver can function in transparent mode, which transfers control of IO-Link communications to the microcontroller via a straightforward URT interface, or in single or multibyte mode. Without the need for extra protection components, the built-in protection guarantees EMC immunity up to 2.5kVpk surge pulse/500? coupling.
