An AI Assistant for the Skill India Mission and the establishment of five Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) are the two initiatives that the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced today in collaboration with Meta.
Through this, a cutting-edge AI-powered chatbot that utilizes Meta’s open-source Llama model will be created to improve the learning experience for students on the Skill India Digital (SID) Portal. We foresee a collaborative e-governance framework for the adoption of impactful AI solutions that have the ability to catalyze large-scale socio-economic transformation in line with India’s AI Mission by making Meta’s open-source AI models available to the country’s AI ecosystem.
Additionally, these five CoEs at the National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Chennai, and Kanpur will provide instructors and students with the newest virtual reality technology so they may study and improve their current abilities in a secure, captivating, and immersive setting.
Through an easy-to-use digital interface, the AI assistant partnership seeks to enhance learning outcomes, expedite information access, and offer students seamless support. Additionally, the five CoEs will enhance participation, make skill development training more accessible, and offer realistic simulations.
The Growing Traction of Skill India Digital Portal
With millions of students accessing courses meant to increase their employability, the Skill India Digital Portal has emerged as a key component of the country’s skilling ecosystem. MSDE and Meta are making great strides in transforming how students engage with course material and get ready for the future with the introduction of the AI chatbot.
Sarvam AI to Develop the Chatbot
The chatbot, which will be piloted for six months, will be developed and implemented by Sarvam AI, the technical partner for the AI assistant project. The chatbot, which will be incorporated into the SID Portal, provides users with round-the-clock support, facilitating easy access to course information, interactive Q&A on course material, and lecture summaries and pertinent videos for review.
With speech capabilities and support for English, Hindi, and Hinglish, the chatbot will be accessible over WhatsApp, increasing its usability for a wide variety of Indian consumers. Users can also look for certain course topics, locate skilling centers, browse job ads by interest and area, and get personalized feedback for ongoing development.
Additionally, the chatbot will give the MSDE useful statistics to help them better optimize the platform. Additionally, the CoEs’ technical partner, Skillveri, will supply state-of-the-art VR and MR resources, curricula, and qualified experts to give teachers and students access to the newest technology, facilitating immersive and dynamic learning environments.
Commenting on the partnership, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, said, “Our mission at the Ministry is to empower India’s youth with the skills they need to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
