In order to prepare talent for the automotive industry, Continental’s Technical Center India (TCI) has partnered with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, and MathWorks to launch the “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture” course. This course imparts industry knowledge with a focus on Automotive Open Source Architecture (AUTOSAR). The program seeks to bridge the gap between business and academia by giving students real-world experience and useful skills.
In order to launch various academic and research activities through curriculum creation, research projects, and the provision of consulting and internship opportunities, Continental and Amrita University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2022.
A significant advance in this direction is marked by the “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture (AUTOSAR)” course. Along with giving the students the skills they need, it will also help them adapt to the changing needs of the sector.
Gradual Approach to Develop Talent Ready for Industry
Three stages have been involved in the execution of this group endeavor. Phase 1 comprises of building a curriculum that complies with industry standards with utilizing industry expertise, academic ecosystem, and simulation technologies in hand.
Phase 2 comprises monthly expert meetings at the university campus and Faculty Development Programs (FDP) with the goal of fostering collective progress through collaboration.
The semester-end industry readiness exam is the culmination of Phase 2. The third phase, known as execution, is where the concept is put into practice by actively and successfully delivering the course in collaboration with academic institutions and simulation partners.
With its comprehensive approach to industry-academia cooperation, the AUTOSAR course will contribute to strengthening India’s talent pool. It will also help support future innovation and the nation’s automobile industry’s overall growth.

Founded in 2009, Technical Centre India (TCI) has expanded significantly in tandem with Continental’s own research and development facilities. It is one of the company’s primary R&D centers, housed under the Software and Central Technologies division, and employs over 6,000 engineers (SCT).
