A revolutionary electrolyte created by 24M Technologies allows for incredibly quick charging and unmatched performance in extremely cold temperatures.
The ground-breaking novel electrolyte from 24M Technologies, called Eternalyte, causes a step change in ionic conductivity, or the speed at which ions move from the anode to the cathode.
With up to three times the ionic conductivity of conventional electrolytes, Eternalyte dramatically improves rate performance without sacrificing energy density, regardless of the chemistry. The higher a battery’s ionic conductivity, the faster the charge rate.
24M’s Eternalyte technology touts to provide an astounding 300+ km of extra range in less than four minutes (charging from SOC 15% to 80%), with a charge rate four times higher than a traditional electrolyte. Importantly, a megawatt charging infrastructure is also not necessary for this incredibly quick charging capabilities.
Furthermore, the technology significantly improves battery performance in extremely cold conditions because of Eternalyte’s broad operating temperature window and excellent ionic conductivity.
A significant problem with today’s EVs in winter and cold areas is resolved by 24M’s Eternalyte electrolyte, which retains nearly all of its capacity at 0°C and more than 80% at -40°C. Conventional batteries lose roughly 25% of their capacity at 0°C and nearly all of their capacity at considerably lower temperatures.
It was first created for lithium metal batteries, but it is also a great option for silicon and graphite-based batteries that are utilized in applications that need exceptional rapid charge rates, endurance, and high power and low temperature performance.
When combined with 24M’s Impervio™ separator, Eternalyte may provide a battery that is essentially safer and lasts longer. It is also simple to incorporate into current manufacturing methods.
